Dreams, goals, and resolutions, all have something in common. All of these are our idealistic wants and needs in our lives. Have you ever wanted to set some goals or resolutions for yourself? Have you ever actually set out to accomplish some of these goals and dreams, and somehow just never seen it through? Many people can say yes to one or both of these questions. I was one of them. However, I did find a solution to my problem with a simple idea and suggestion put in my head, and now I will share it with you.
Write a letter to yourself. Write down and explain to yourself, all the things you would like to do or accomplish for the year. Make sure you date the letter, and also sign it at the bottom to make it official. Writing a set of life goals has been tried and usually doesn't work well, because there is so much time in between and to do it all in. However, a yearly goal is smaller, a shorter amount of time, easier to accomplish, and all around usually works pretty good.
In order to help you with setting your goals, dreams, resolutions or ideas in to motion; there are little things you can do for yourself, to help you motivate the situation. Say for instance, you want to be a writer. You enjoy writing, and you have dreams of maybe becoming a published author one day. Go out and purchase for yourself a few note books or a nice binder and filler paper. Get some new pens and pencils, and maybe even a small tote bag so you can carry these things with you. That way, when a thought or idea comes to mind on something you would like to write about, you'll be ready for it. Start journaling and taking notes where ever you go. Inspirations for writing can come at any hour of the day or even night.
If your goal is to lose weight, go out and purchase one pair of slacks that are one size too small, then try them on every day. This will help to motivate you into really trying hard to stick with your diet and exercise routine, because you're wanting to fit into that new pair of slacks.
Maybe you want to remodel the house a little. Take pictures and clippings from magazines and tape them around the house for you to notice all the time. Some good places to stick these pictures to are the fridge, your desk top, or even the entertainment center. Any place that you will notice and keep seeing them time after time, is the key for motivation.
Let's say you want to make more family time, just setting some time aside to spend doing family things. Draw a calendar on a sheet of paper or even print one out from the internet. Make sure to give it some fancy decorations to make it pretty and eye pleasing, then stick it to the fridge. I have always found the fridge to be the ultimate place to stick things to, when they need to be remembered. Now go over your must do schedule and cross off all the days on your new calendar that are already spoken for. Then go back and fill in the empty spaces with such things as: 'Home Movie Night', 'Out to Dinner Night', 'Family Game Night', 'Lunch at the park over the weekend'. Any way, you get the idea. Even if there is only two days left open on your calendar, it's still giving you a family time, and something to look forward to.
